Bright Fire Energy is a trade name of Sponsor Energy Inc., a licensed retailer of electricity (Licence #343969) and natural gas (Licence #343970) in the Province of Alberta. Our office is located at 4747 51 Ave, Whitecourt, AB T7S 1A0, Canada.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when you:

• Enroll for electricity or natural gas service through our enrollment partner (Billhub)
• Contact us via phone, email, or our website contact form
• Subscribe to communications or updates
• Participate in promotions or community programs

This information may include your name, address, phone number, email address, utility account number, and banking or payment information required for service setup.

Automatically Collected Information

When you visit brightfire.ca, we automatically collect certain information through Google Analytics 4, including your IP address (anonymized), browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring website. This data is used to improve our website and understand how visitors use our services.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Set up and manage your electricity and/or natural gas account
• Process billing and payments through Sponsor Energy Inc.
• Communicate with you about your account, service changes, or rate updates
• Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
• Improve our website and services
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements in Alberta

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your information with:

• Sponsor Energy Inc. - the licensed retailer of electricity (Licence #343969) and natural gas (Licence #343970) in Alberta that Bright Fire Energy is a trade name of, which provides customer care, invoicing, and banking services
• Your local utility company (ATCO, EPCOR, FortisAlberta, etc.) - as required to set up and maintain your energy service
• Billhub - our enrollment processing partner
• Regulatory bodies - as required by the Alberta Utilities Commission or other government agencies

Service Providers Outside Canada

We use service providers to run our website, send our emails and measure our advertising. Some of them collect, use or store personal information for us outside Canada, mainly in the United States. While your information is outside Canada, the laws of that country apply to it, and courts, law enforcement or national security authorities there may be able to access it.

These providers work on our behalf, only for these purposes:

• Email - ActiveCampaign and Resend (United States) store contact details and send our emails, such as enrollment help, account updates and offers you agreed to receive.
• Website and forms - Netlify (United States) hosts brightfire.ca and receives what you enter in our contact and sign-up forms.
• Analytics and advertising - Google and Meta (United States) measure how visitors use our site and which ads lead to sign-ups, and help show our ads to people who may be interested. When we share sign-up details with them for this, we send email addresses and phone numbers in hashed form (turned into a scrambled code), never in plain text.
• Business tools - Google Workspace and Slack (United States) handle our business email, files and team messages, which can include your emails and questions to us.
• AI-assisted tools - help us sort customer messages and draft replies. A person reviews every reply before it is sent.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmission. Payment and banking information is processed through secure, PCI-compliant systems.

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:

• Request corrections to inaccurate information

8. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor behavior. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymized data about your visit. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We also use the Google Ads tag and the Meta Pixel. They use cookies or similar technology to measure which ads lead to visits and sign-ups, and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. You can control the ads you see in your Google ad settings and Meta ad preferences, or block cookies in your browser settings.
