Bright Fire Energy is a trade name of Sponsor Energy Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), a licensed retailer of electricity (Licence #343969) and natural gas (Licence #343970) in the Province of Alberta. Customer care and invoicing/banking services are provided by Sponsor Energy Inc. on behalf of Bright Fire Energy.
Bright Fire Energy provides competitive electricity and natural gas supply to residential and small commercial customers in Alberta. We offer both fixed-rate and variable-rate plans. Your local utility company (ATCO, EPCOR, FortisAlberta, etc.) continues to deliver electricity and natural gas to your home or business — switching retailers does not affect your physical service or reliability.
Enrollment is processed through our partner, Billhub. By enrolling, you authorize Bright Fire Energy (Sponsor Energy Inc.) to act as your electricity and/or natural gas retailer and to arrange service with your local utility company on your behalf.
You must be the account holder or authorized representative for the service address. You must be 18 years of age or older to enroll.
Rates are published on our Rates page and are subject to change for new enrollments. Your contracted rate will be honoured for the term of your agreement.
Billing and invoicing services are provided by Sponsor Energy Inc. Bills are issued monthly based on meter readings provided by your local utility company. Payment terms and methods are detailed in your enrollment agreement.
Bright Fire Energy does not charge cancellation fees on electricity plans (fixed or variable) or variable natural gas plans. Fixed-rate natural gas contracts carry a $250 early exit fee. If you wish to cancel your service, contact us at 1-855-778-4427 or customercare@brightfire.ca. Cancellation takes effect based on your utility's meter reading cycle.
Bright Fire Energy's SMART Solar Program offers a micro-generation buyback rate of 35¢/kWh for excess electricity produced by qualifying solar panel installations. Credits are applied to your monthly bill. Eligibility, terms, and conditions are subject to the program agreement and applicable Alberta micro-generation regulations.
